Why I create music for children: Having spent twenty years as a singer-songwriter performing for adults, I find making music for children incredibly gratifying. I'm always blown away by children's visceral enthusiasm. Their lack of self-consciousness and primal response to rhythms and sound make for ecstatic live concerts that rival the energy of any rock and roll show. There's a cliche that music keeps you young. I'd amend that to say that making music for kids keeps you young—at least it's working for me! About this song: "Chocolalala" is the title track to the new bilingual (Spanish/English) Mister G CD. Over the last few years, I've performed a number of times in Latin America, and these tours inspired many of the tracks on the new album. I wrote this song one day when I saw a sign in Antigua, Guatemala, for a fantastic, chocolate shop named..."Chocolalala." I loved the creative use of language, and of course, I love chocolate like everybody else. |

Why we create music for children: We create music for kids that is full of imagination, based on play, educational ideals, movement, and joy. About this song: "Monkey Jones" is a journey into one little boy's imagination. In this exciting adventure he is swinging through trees with monkeys, talking on a banana phone, and even sitting on a throne as the king of the jungle—all within his own backyard "Monkey Jones" is a tale of whimsy, exploration, and dreams! What children get from listening to, singing along with and dancing to music: They get a sense of freedom, both imaginative and movement-based. Music is one of the many joys of living. |
